This disclaimer explains how our web analytics platform processes data, the inherent legal and technical limitations of that data, and the responsibilities of users when accessing or relying on analytics outputs. It is intended to provide transparency about how analytics information is generated, what it can and cannot be used for, and the boundaries of our obligations and liability.
Our analytics are designed to give website owners a high-level understanding of how their site is used, such as how many people visit, which pages are viewed, and how the site performs overall. The data is aggregated and generalized, meaning it shows trends and patterns rather than information about specific individuals. We do not use analytics to track people across websites, build profiles about users, or support advertising or marketing activities.
The analytics services provided by the platform are strictly limited to the collection and processing of data for aggregated, statistical measurement of website usage, availability, and performance. The services are not designed or intended to enable the identification of individual users, the creation of user profiles, cross-context behavioral advertising, or any form of automated decision-making within the meaning of Article 22 of the GDPR, the UK GDPR, or applicable U.S. privacy laws, including the CCPA/CPRA.
When you sign up for an account, we collect basic information like your name and email address so we can create your account, authenticate you, and provide customer support. This information is used only to operate the service and communicate with you. It is kept separate from analytics data and is never combined with or used to analyze website visitor behavior.
Personal data collected in connection with account creation, authentication, customer support, and service administration, including names, email addresses, and user identifiers, is processed solely for those purposes and is logically and technically segregated from analytics data. Such data is not combined with analytics datasets, used to enrich analytics outputs, or repurposed for behavioral analysis, and is processed in accordance with applicable data protection and privacy laws.
To understand general traffic patterns, such as overall visit volume and request frequency, we temporarily process, but do not store, IP addresses. IP addresses are immediately pseudonymized using a salt value that changes daily, which prevents the same visitor from being identified or tracked across multiple days. This helps ensure individual privacy is preserved. We never store raw IP addresses, and any pseudonymized data is retained for no longer than two weeks before being automatically removed as part of our data minimization practices.
IP addresses are processed solely for the purpose of generating aggregated website usage metrics and are not used to derive or infer location information. IP addresses are processed exclusively in a pseudonymized form through the application of a rotating salt value that changes on a daily basis, which prevents consistent identification or linkage of the same user across multiple days and eliminates the possibility of re-identification. Raw IP addresses are never stored. Pseudonymized identifiers are retained for a limited period, not exceeding fourteen (14) days, and are automatically removed in accordance with the principles of data minimization and storage limitation.
These technical and organizational measures are implemented in accordance with the principles of data protection by design and by default as set out in Article 25 of the GDPR and the UK GDPR, and are intended to support compliance with applicable obligations under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), including requirements relating to reasonable security procedures, purpose limitation, and restrictions on the retention of personal information.
Our analytics platform does not use cookies, browser storage, fingerprinting, tracking pixels, or other similar tracking technologies that store or retrieve information from a visitor’s device. As a result, visitors are not required to accept cookies or interact with consent banners for our analytics to function. We do not place identifiers on a visitor’s device, and we do not attempt to recognize, follow, or track visitors over time or across different websites. Instead, analytics insights are generated using server-side processing and privacy-preserving techniques designed to minimize data collection while still providing useful, aggregated metrics.
The analytics platform does not deploy cookies, local storage, browser fingerprinting, tracking pixels, or other client-side tracking technologies that store or access information on a user’s device. Accordingly, the operation of the analytics services does not require user consent under the ePrivacy Directive (Directive 2002/58/EC), the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), or comparable national implementations.
The analytics services do not place persistent identifiers on user devices and do not enable recognition or tracking of users over time or across multiple websites. Analytics data is generated through server-side processing and privacy-preserving techniques designed to minimize the collection and processing of personal data, in line with the principles of data minimization and purpose limitation under the GDPR and UK GDPR, and to support compliance with applicable obligations under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA).
We do not sell, share, rent, license, or otherwise give analytics data to third parties for money or anything else of value. We also do not use analytics data for advertising, marketing, or tracking people across different websites, and we do not allow others to use it for those purposes either.
Analytics data is used only to operate and provide our analytics service and stays under our control. We do not allow third parties to reuse the data for their own purposes or to combine it with other data.
We would only disclose analytics data if we are legally required to do so, such as in response to a valid law, regulation, court order, or lawful request from a government authority, and any such disclosure would be limited to what is strictly required.
Analytics data processed by the platform is not sold, shared, rented, licensed, transferred, or otherwise disclosed to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA). The platform does not engage in the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for purposes of cross-context behavioral advertising, targeted advertising, or similar commercial uses.
The platform does not disclose analytics data to third parties for independent use, secondary purposes, or data enrichment. Analytics data is used solely for the provision and operation of the analytics services and remains under the control of the platform, subject to applicable legal and contractual obligations.
Disclosure of analytics data to third parties occurs only where required to comply with applicable law, regulation, court order, or a valid and lawful governmental request, or where necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of the platform, its users, or others, in accordance with applicable legal requirements. Any such disclosure is limited to the extent required by law and subject to appropriate safeguards.
Our service is used by customers around the world, and as a result, analytics data may be processed in different countries depending on where our systems and infrastructure operate. Regardless of where processing takes place, we apply consistent privacy and security standards to protect the data. This includes limiting what data is processed, applying technical safeguards, and following applicable data protection requirements so that the data is handled responsibly and securely no matter where it is processed.
Where analytics data is processed or accessed in jurisdictions outside the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, such processing is conducted in accordance with the requirements of Chapter V of the GDPR and the UK GDPR. Appropriate safeguards are implemented to ensure an essentially equivalent level of protection for personal data, which may include contractual, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and security of the data.
Analytics data is processed solely for the purposes described in this disclaimer and is subject to data minimization, purpose limitation, and retention controls, regardless of the location of processing. The platform does not permit international transfers of analytics data that would undermine applicable data protection obligations or individual rights under relevant privacy laws.
Analytics data is intended to provide helpful insights into overall website trends and performance, but it should not be viewed as perfectly precise or complete. Some visits or actions may not be recorded due to technical limitations, browser settings, network conditions, content blockers, or other factors outside of our control. Data may also be delayed or aggregated in ways that smooth out details. Because of this, analytics should be used to understand general patterns and direction over time, rather than as an exact or exhaustive record of all website activity.
Analytics data and metrics are provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis, without warranties or representations of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. The platform does not warrant or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, reliability, availability, or timeliness of analytics data or outputs. Analytics data may be incomplete, delayed, sampled, estimated, or otherwise affected by technical limitations, system configurations, user behavior, network conditions, content-blocking technologies, data loss, or other factors outside the platform’s reasonable control.
Our analytics are provided as an informational tool to help you better understand how a website is used. They are not meant to tell you what decisions to make or to replace your own judgment. You should not rely on analytics data alone when making important business, legal, financial, or operational decisions. Where appropriate, you should consider other data sources, context, and professional advice before acting.
The analytics services and any data, metrics, reports, or outputs generated by the platform do not constitute business, legal, financial, operational, or professional advice of any kind. Users acknowledge and agree that they are solely responsible for evaluating the suitability and appropriateness of analytics data for their intended purposes. Any reliance on analytics data, including for decision-making or planning, is undertaken entirely at the user’s own discretion and risk.
Using analytics data involves some level of risk, especially if it is used to inform decisions. If the data turns out to be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, or unsuitable for your particular needs, we are not responsible for any losses, damages, or outcomes that may result. You are responsible for how you interpret and use the analytics, and for any decisions you make based on that information.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the platform, its operators, affiliates, officers, employees, agents, and licensors disclaim all liability for any claims, losses, damages, or expenses arising out of or relating to the use of, inability to use, or reliance upon the analytics services or analytics data. This includes, without limitation, direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or economic damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, business opportunities, or anticipated savings, even if the platform has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
People have legal rights over their personal data, and we take those rights seriously. Because our analytics data is designed to be aggregated and privacy-preserving, it is not possible to identify or isolate data related to a specific individual. This can limit what actions are technically possible, such as accessing or deleting individual analytics records. Where applicable, we aim to handle any data rights requests in a transparent, reasonable, and lawful way.
Where applicable, individuals may exercise rights granted under relevant data protection and privacy laws, including the GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA. These rights may include the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or limit the processing of personal information. The ability to fulfill certain requests may be limited or not technically feasible where analytics data has been aggregated, anonymized, or otherwise rendered non-attributable to an identifiable individual. Any requests received will be assessed and handled in accordance with applicable legal requirements and timelines.
From time to time, we may update this disclaimer to reflect changes to our service, our practices, or legal and regulatory requirements. When updates are made, the revised version will be posted here so you can review the most current information. By continuing to use the service after changes are published, you acknowledge that the disclaimer may have been updated.
The platform reserves the right to modify, amend, or update this disclaimer at any time to reflect changes in legal requirements, regulatory guidance, or operational practices. Any updates will become effective upon publication of the revised disclaimer. Continued access to or use of the analytics services following the publication of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated disclaimer to the extent permitted by applicable law.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests related to this Disclaimer or how we operate our service, you can contact us at support@usage.io. We're happy to help clarify our practices, address concerns, or respond to data protection requests in a timely and transparent manner.
